An Open Letter to the Leaders of the Western World
Dear UK Leaders, and your counterparts across the so-called “free” world,
You do not represent us.
Not in word, not in action, and certainly not in principle.
In overwhelming numbers, we stand against the atrocities you continue to fund, arm, and enable across the Middle East. We did not elect you to serve a genocidal regime thousands of miles away — one that openly, unapologetically slaughters the people it deems inferior. You were elected to serve us: the people in your own communities. The nurses who work double shifts to hold our health system together. The teachers who have the future in their classrooms. The builders, the carers, the cleaners — the backbone of society.
We voted you in to create a world where our children, all children, regardless of race, religion, or creed, can grow up safe, educated, and free.
But instead, you serve those who bomb refugee camps, kill infants, and silence dissent.
You do not represent us.
We did not vote for you to hand tax breaks to billionaires while working families drown in debt and food insecurity. The billionaire should not even exist — not in a world where people are skipping meals to keep the lights on. But you protect them, praise them, and pander to them, while the rest of us suffer the consequences.
They inflate housing markets beyond reach.
They hoard wealth that could fund entire nations.
They profit from our suffering.
They buy influence. They buy you.
You do not represent us.
We did not vote for a surveillance state.
We did not vote for anti-protest laws.
We did not vote for the criminalisation of compassion or the demonisation of dissent.
You brand whistleblowers as threats, truth-tellers as enemies, and activists as extremists.
You have mistaken our patience for permission.
You do not represent us.
We did not vote for a climate catastrophe.
While the planet burns, you strike oil deals. While scientists warn of collapse, you sign contracts with fossil fuel giants. You subsidise destruction and then pretend to lead the charge for change.
We see through it.
You do not represent us.
You have corrupted the idea of democracy itself — offering us the illusion of choice while both sides serve the same corporate masters.
You shake hands with tyrants.
You sell weapons to war criminals.
You let children starve while arms dealers thrive.
And you have the audacity to speak in our name.
We are done being polite.
We are done asking nicely.
We are done pretending this is normal.
You do not represent us.
And we will not let you forget it.
